Remember Hide and Seek as a kid? The fun is still there! Come join the worlds biggest game of hide and seek! Geocaches are probably hidden all over your town just waiting to be discovered. CacheLight will show you where they are using your iPhones GPS or an iPod with an outboard GPS such as a DUAL XGPS 150.

CacheLight is designed to work with the geocaching data available for free at www.geocaching.com. Loading is simple. Just email the data file you create there to yourself on your iOS device and CacheLight will be one of the options to open the email attachment. Open the file and pick a target and start hunting! Geocaching as a team/family? Share the underlying SQLite file using iTunes file sharing and your team will all have exactly the same data. First one to find the cache wins!

Dont be fooled by the price. CacheLight inherits several quality features from its big brother, iGeoCacher, not the least of which is "SONAR." You can actually home in on your target using the "pings" and "echoes" (simulated based upon GPS distance to target) and it spices up the chase. It also borrows some of the Horizontal Situation Indicator (HSI) features inspired by aircraft navigation instruments.

I hope youll give geocaching a try. My wife and I discovered it 5 years ago and weve seen sights and discovered many interesting historical places right in our own region through geocaching. It has also been great fun with the kids.

Are you a "pro" geocacher already using one of the more sophisticated tools like iGeoCacher? Consider CacheLight for the kids/grandkids when you are out hunting together. Its got all they really need without a lot of the extra bells and whistles that can sometimes get in the way when just starting out. CacheLight opens both LOC and GPX files so it can work with the same files you use with iGeoCacher or iGeoPad.

Junior doesnt have an iPhone but only has an iPod Touch? (no gps) Leverage that by adding an DUAL Bluetooth GPS accessory and an iPod Touch will work as well (maybe even better) than an iPhone. Its a lot less expensive than even the least expensive GPS and the accuracy will be much better with the DUAL unit. It will also open up a world of other location based apps for them as well.
